Digital Attendance List

Digital recording of student attendance

With our Digital Attendance List, you can reduce administrative work and offer your administrative staff, teachers and students a modern service for recording attendance in courses. The 100 % GDPR-compliant solution provides an overview of attendance times in real time – both for employees of your university and individually for your students.

Smartphone instead of pen and paper - that's the idea behind Studo's Digital Attendance List (DAL). The university administration can use the Digital Attendance List to manage courses and the associated attendance data in the Studo web tool and reduce the workload. Attendance is recorded easily and without effort for lecturers using NFC in the classroom or flexibly and optimized for online teaching with a live QR code.

Staff and students, in return, always have an overview of individual attendance rate for courses.

Tailored for your university

The Digital Attendance List is open and expandable. This allows universities to individually develop additional management modules such as advanced statistics or integrations with other systems. The DAL was developed and launched in cooperation with CAMPUS 02 University of Applied Sciences.

You can try out the demo version of the Digital Attendance List here:

How does the Digital Atendance List work?

  • The course dates are imported from the university's campus management system into the Digital Attendance List.

  • During the courses, the students' attendance is registered using live QR codes, which are provided by the lecturers for the students to scan.

  • The QR code can be scanned via the Studo App or via a web app. Teachers can see in real time how many students have just checked in. In addition, students can call up their individual attendance rate.

  • Via the Digital Attendance List, the university administration can also calculate the attendance rate of students and export this data.

  • The course dates are imported into the Digital Attendance List from the university's campus management system or via CSV importers.

  • Student attendance is recorded in the courses. There are two options. In both cases, the check-in is cryptographically encrypted and secure.

    • On the one hand, a simple and effortless check-in is possible using NFC on a smartphone. Students scan SECORA tags with their smartphone, which are attached anywhere in the classroom, for example next to the entrance door, on each row of seats or on each individual seat. This eliminates any effort for lecturers.

    • On the other hand, check-in with a QR code enables cost-effective attendance recording that can be flexibly adapted to face-to-face or online teaching. The QR code is generated via our web interface and can be shown via a projector in the room or via screen sharing in online courses. Students can scan the QR code via the Studo app or via a web app.

  • During and after check-in, lecturers can see in real time how many students have just checked in.

  • The university administration can use the Digital Attendance List to calculate the attendance rate of students and export this data. In addition, students can call up their individual attendance rate.

In case of any questions, we will be happy to advise you on the selection of the perfect system for your university and discuss details of a possible implementation.

Additional features of the Digital Attendance List

Via the Digital Attendance List, students can also submit exemption requests and check-in resubmission requests. These requests can be processed directly in the web tool by staff members with the appropriate role configuration and exempted hours are immediately reflected in the students' attendance times.

The DAL is also available as a white label solution in your university's design.

Data protection and security

When developing the Digital Attendance List, we also gave top priority to the best possible implementation in terms of data protection and security. This additional module is hosted by Studo on behalf of the university in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), so that as little effort as possible is required from university employees. As with the Studo App and all other Studo development projects, the Digital Attendance List is a 100% GDPR-compliant solution hosted in the EU by EU companies. You can find more information here.
