New countries, new records: Our recap of the 2022 semester start

The start of a new semester. It marks the beginning of an academic year and, for many first-semester students, the start of a whole new phase in their lives. At the same time, it is the annual highlight for Studo. All teams have been working towards it for months. Together, we want to look back on these exciting past weeks.

The start of the semester is an exciting time full of teamwork, records and innovations. This is the first time that we have started the new academic year not only in Austria and Germany, but also in Slovenia. And as far as records are concerned, we have been able to achieve a number of them in the last few weeks, for which we would like to say a big "thank you".
But more about that in our semester start review:

Austria: New cooperations and projects

For many years, we've been working closely with universities throughout Austria. Still, it is incredible for us when yet another university decides to use Studo as its official campus app. We were therefore particularly happy that the University of Klagenfurt is now supporting its approximately 12,000 students with Studo's campus license. Another new partner is the alumni association of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna.

A new academic year is also the “go live” for many new development projects. For example: Since October 2022, all students at FH JOANNEUM and University of Applied Sciences Carinthia can use our Digital Student Card directly in the Studo App.

Our Digital Student Card is currently in use at six universities.

For six years now, we have been accompanying students in Austria through their everyday lives. We are delighted that the number of our users increases every year. This year, this growth has been demonstrated quite impressively: In the Apple Appstore, the Studo App was ranked third among the most popular apps in Austria in October. In the "Learning" category, we even landed in first place.

Slovenia: The first “Semester start” with Studo

Since April 2022, we operate in Slovenia with our own team. Directly in Maribor, one part of the team develops the Studo App and our digital solutions. The rest of the team supports students and universities throughout Slovenia – with great success: At University of Ljubljana, three faculties already use the Studo App, our communication channel Studo Newsroom and the Digital Attendance List. Also joining the Studo family is the University of Primorska. Here, not only the Studo App but also the Digital Student Card, including a door-opening system, have been launched. In addition, there are the two private universities Gea College and Academia. Both universities have been trusting in our team for a long time and have strengthened the cooperation even more this year.

However, the Slovenian students provided an unbelievable surprise at the start of the semester: They helped the Studo App to reach number one in the overall app charts in Slovenia. A great reward for the entire team behind it!

Germany: The next big steps

After our launch in Germany last year, we were able to take some exciting steps at the start of this year's semester. After all, our Studo family has grown: At Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, SRH - The Mobile University, and the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at University of Cologne, Studo is now the official university app. More than 100,000 students in Germany alone now use the Studo App every day.

Records and achievements? Only works as a team ❤️

350,000 daily active users. 1.78 million app sessions per day. These are the records with which we are starting the new academic year. But behind all these records stands one thing above all: a lot of teamwork. After all, it takes many helping hands to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible at the start of the semester.

In communication, for example: Starting in June, our community team has been preparing new content, events, and much more to introduce the Studo app to students. At the same time, our cooperation managers are in contact with universities and student representatives to coordinate joint projects.

The development team works on the maintenance of the app, develops new projects and – a hot topic especially at the start of a new semester – deals with the support chat. We take care of all first, second and third level support for our users. Our amazing support and dev team helps all students as quickly as possible. Whether on weekends or holidays, it takes an average of just 55 minutes to get a first response from our team.

Say “hello” to our team in Maribor. They take care of all students in Slovenia.

Inspired by another semester start, we are highly motivated as we look ahead to the academic year 2022/23. We are excited about new projects, new acquaintances, and new experiences with the entire team.
We would like to sincerely thank all of our cooperation partners for their trust and cooperation. Every year we learn so much from all of you and grow beyond ourselves. Thank you for that!

Finally, we wish all students, university staff and supporters of Studo a successful and healthy academic year 2022/23.

All the best,
the Studo team ❤️
